THE ULTIMATE BOOK TAG BY CHAPTER CHICKS | JULY 2019
I found this tag randomly on the Internet, it was created by Chapter Chicks. I love these types of tags, so lets get started!
2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?
1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?
Sometimes, I think it for one depends on who is driving, and my overall mood of that day. 2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?
When I first read Sebastian Faulks, I instantly connected with his writing style. I think I usually prefer more descriptive language over a lot of dialogue.
3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.
I definitely am I bigger fan of the Harry Potter series over Twilight.
1. Hogwarts
2. Magic!
3. Good vs evil narrative, that basically provides the reader with a good moral for life?
4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books…)?
I don't carry a book bag, I just put my current read in my normal bag!
5. Do you smell your books?
Who doesn't? You're weird if you don't.
6. Books with or without little illustrations?
I haven't read many books with illustrations in, but I think it definitely makes a book special with nice illustrations in.
7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing? (Ex. I read Twilight before I read HP and thought the writing was amazing but read HP and now think Twilight is a little bit of a joke.)
After studying Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for University, I've now come to realise that grammatically the books aren't that correct. Nevertheless, they've become hugely successful and remain a big part of my childhood.
8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!
I don't think I have any stories from my childhood, but I have a tale from more recently. I was at a village fete, and I saw a book I wanted. Stupidly I had forgotten my money, so asked if my mum would let me borrow 20p for the book. I turned round with the money, and an elderly lady had the book in her grasp. Inevitably I couldn't get the book. But, my mum remembered this incident and actually bought it me for Christmas. It will always be a running joke for me lol.
9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.
10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?
Clash of Kings (Book 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire). It's like nearly 1000 pages!!!
11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?
The absolute dream is to become a writer! Sometimes I find if I think about writing something too much, it won't happen. I think it has to be quite natural to write. Also I tend to write multiple things at once, and never really finish something. How do people even write short stories as well?
12. When did you get into reading?
I can't honestly remember when I got in to reading; I don't remember a time when I haven't been obsessed with books. I remember getting in to reading more when I was about 10, and reading book after book. Inevitably my love and obsession with books and reading helped my love for the subject of English, which became my best subject in school.
13. What is your favorite classic book?
My favourite classic book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It is technically classed as a children's book, but I read it when I was 16/17. I love it, it honestly just breathes warmth and comfort to me.
14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?
How did you guess? I think it helps that I had an amazing English teacher in secondary school, he really inspired me to study English degree level.
15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?
Probably give it to charity, or to someone else that would enjoy it.
16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?
I know of a series that is similar to Twilight, it is the Linger series by Maggie Stiefvater. It really reminded me of the love story between Edward and Bella, minus Jacob butting in.
17. What is a bad habit you always do?
Buy too many books!
18. What is your favorite word?
I really enjoy the word kaleidoscope. So quirky!
19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?
I'm definitely a nerd.
20. Vampires or Fairies? Why?
I think I prefer fairies, they have more of a magical element to them.
21. Shapeshifters or Angels? Why?
Shapeshifters! So much more interesting in terms of psychological and biological context!
22. Spirits or Werewolves? Why?
Spirits! They can be involved in so many different genres, from horror to magical realism. I think it makes a book that much more better!
23. Zombies or Vampires?
I think vampires with this one. I like the mythical context that involve vampires. Whereas zombies I just find a bit boring.
24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?
Forbidden Love, I think love triangles have been overdone for sure. They have grown to be a bit boring, because whatever the outcome someone is going to be disappointed with it. Forbidden Love has more secrecy and mystery to it.
25. AND FINALLY: Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
Game of Thrones!
Hope you enjoyed reading!
